The Messengers have been together since May 2006 when Justin contacted Ian and Bryn from ads they'd put in Liverpool music shops. They were joined by Jay a couple of months later who recommended a young keyboard player called Chris, and the line-up was complete. All the musicians are incredibly accomplished, coming from a wide variety of musical backgrounds and experience. The combination of Justin's rock steady guitar, along with Bryn's funky R'n'B bass style all held expertly together by Ian's wonderfully natural and commanding feel for the beat, gives rise to an awesomely powerful spin on some of the best known numbers from the past forty years, right up to a selection of hits from the present. Chris makes excellent use of this rhythmic foundation to provide an essential further dimension using a plethora of intelligently applied voices courtesy of the keys. Jay's super smooth vocals are the zenith of pure aural pleasure when it comes to applying his vocal talents to the instrumental. His phenomenal range can comfortably deal with the most sensitive of Motown soul classics to the sheer power of the Rock standards...and of course, everything in between! The overall effect is a refreshingly new but highly sympathetic rendition of some of the best known but eclectic mix of songs - there really *is* something for everyone at a Messengers gig!
